Our wastewater and water consumption are a significant environmental impact.
We have arranged our production so that as little water as possible is used. Our countercurrent flush runs as efficiently as possible, and water consumption for manual flushing is minimized. Although Stjerne-Chrom is continuously expanding production, we are working to keep water consumption at the current level. Here we work especially with optimizing the hanging of items, adjusting the rinsing to a minimum - and try to extend the life of all our chemical vessels. We monitor water consumption closely to minimize the amount of wastewater produced and treated in our treatment plants. Stjerne-Chrom has a wastewater permit, which makes strict demands on the water we discharge.
Our wastewater is treated and checked in batch, in the following process:
• Ph adjustment
• Precipitation
• Sludge pressing
• The sludge is disposed of to Kommunekemi
• Purified wastewater is passed through two ion exchangers before discharge to the sewer and already there, we comply with the requirements of the authorities.
The wastewater is checked 4 times a year by an independent laboratory, and in recent years we have complied with all regulatory requirements. We work towards ensuring that our wastewater after ion exchange 2 does not contain more than 20% of the permitted values.
We are quality, environment and working environment certified according to ISO 9001: 2015, ISO 14001: 2015 and ISO 45001: 2018. Our anodizing process is under food control.
